About this tool

Sometimes the pattern you need is not one this site could have anticipated. The Template Generator hands the pattern back to you: write your own structures using the placeholders topic, modifier and location, supply the value lists, and the tool expands every template against every combination. It is the most flexible generator in Hashly and the one to reach for when a standard tool is nearly right.

How it works

Each template line is scanned for placeholders. For every placeholder found, the template is expanded against every value in that list, one placeholder at a time, producing the full cartesian product per template. Templates referencing a placeholder with no values are skipped rather than producing broken output with braces still in the text. Whitespace is tidied and the combined result is de-duplicated.

  1. 1Write one template per line using {topic}, {modifier} and {location}.
  2. 2Fill in the value lists for the placeholders you used.
  3. 3Generate and check the count before exporting.
  4. 4Trim combinations that do not read naturally.

Example

Input

{modifier} {topic} in {location} · affordable · yoga classes · leeds

Output

affordable yoga classes in leeds

When to use it

  • Generating a multi-city, multi-service keyword matrix in one pass.
  • Reproducing a naming convention across a large product catalogue.
  • Building URL slug patterns before a site migration.
  • Creating campaign phrase structures a client has specified exactly.

Tips

  • Test with two values per list first, then scale up once the templates read well.
  • Keep templates grammatically complete; a missing preposition repeats across the whole output.
  • Export as CSV when the output is large — it is easier to filter in a spreadsheet.

Limitations

Only the three named placeholders are supported, and combinations grow multiplicatively — three templates with three lists of ten values produce thousands of phrases. The tool cannot judge grammar, so awkward placements in a template will appear in every result.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add my own placeholder names?
Not currently. Topic, modifier and location cover most patterns; use the modifier list creatively for anything else.
Why was one of my templates ignored?
A template is skipped when it uses a placeholder you left empty, which prevents broken output containing literal braces.
How large can the output be?
It is limited by your browser's memory. Keep an eye on the count; tens of thousands of rows will make the page sluggish.
