About this tool
Brands and communities usually settle on a tag structure rather than individual tags: the topic plus the city, the modifier plus the topic, the topic plus the year. This generator lets you write that structure once and expand it across all your values, producing a consistent, correctly formatted tag family instead of a pile of one-off tags.
How it works
Each template is scanned for the topic, modifier and location placeholders and expanded against every value you supplied, producing the full combination set per template. Templates whose placeholders have no values are skipped so no literal braces appear in the output. Every result is then normalised into hashtag syntax: punctuation stripped, spaces closed and camelCase applied for readability.
- 1Write your tag structures using the placeholders, one per line.
- 2Fill in the value lists you want expanded.
- 3Generate and review the formatted tags.
- 4Copy the block or export the family for your brand guide.
Example
Input
{topic}Of{location} · coffee · londonOutput
#coffeeOfLondon
When to use it
- Creating a consistent tag family across every city a brand operates in.
- Generating campaign tags that follow a fixed naming convention.
- Producing seasonal tag variants from one structure.
- Documenting a tag standard for a team to follow.
Tips
- Keep the structure short — long compound tags are hard to type and remember.
- Test the flagship tag on the platform before rolling out the whole family.
- Store the templates alongside the generated tags so the convention survives staff changes.
Limitations
Consistency is not the same as reach. A perfectly structured tag family reaches nobody until people use it, and Hashly cannot check whether any of these tags already exist. Search the important ones before publishing.
Frequently asked questions
- Which placeholders are supported?
- Topic, modifier and location. Use the modifier list for anything else you need, such as a season or a year.
- Why is a template ignored?
- It references a placeholder with no values. Fill the list or remove the placeholder from that template.
- Are the outputs valid hashtags?
- Yes. Every result is normalised to remove characters platforms do not index inside tags.
