About this tool

Keyword combination is the fastest way to cover a matrix of products, attributes and audiences. If you sell four services in six cities for three customer types, that is seventy-two phrases you should not be typing by hand. The Keyword Combiner takes up to three lists and produces every ordered combination, joined with the separator you choose, with duplicates removed.

How it works

Each list is split on line breaks and trimmed. The tool then performs a cartesian product in list order: every item in list A is paired with every item in list B, and the result is paired with every item in list C if you supply one. Empty lists are skipped rather than producing blanks, so you can use two lists or three without changing anything else. The join character can be a space, a hyphen for slug-style output, or nothing at all.

  1. 1Paste your first list, one item per line.
  2. 2Paste the second list, and a third if your matrix needs it.
  3. 3Pick the separator that matches where the output is going.
  4. 4Generate, then export as CSV for bulk uploads or TXT for a working list.

Example

Input

A: running, cycling · B: shoes, watch

Output

running shoes · running watch · cycling shoes · cycling watch

When to use it

  • Producing product-plus-attribute phrases for an ecommerce catalogue.
  • Creating service-plus-city phrases for a multi-location business.
  • Building ad group seed lists before importing into a campaign editor.
  • Generating URL slug candidates using the hyphen separator.

Tips

  • Keep the most important dimension in list A so the output reads naturally.
  • Use the hyphen separator when you need slugs, then run the result through the Keyword Cleaner.
  • For randomised sampling of a huge matrix, pass the output to the Keyword Randomizer.

Limitations

Combination is mechanical: the tool will happily produce nonsense such as pairing an incompatible attribute with a product. Combinations also grow multiplicatively, so three lists of twenty items produce eight thousand phrases. Trim your inputs before generating and prune the output afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

How many combinations can it handle?
Processing happens in your browser, so very large matrices can slow the page. Lists totalling a few thousand combinations are comfortable; beyond that, split the job into batches.
Does order matter?
Yes. Combinations follow list order — A then B then C — so put the head term first if you want readable phrases.
Are duplicates removed?
Yes, case-insensitively. If two combinations differ only in capitalisation, only the first is kept.
