About this tool

Every tool wants keywords in a different shape. Ad platforms want one per line, meta fields want commas, some CMS import screens want pipes, and spreadsheets want whatever will not break their parser. The Keyword Separator converts between all of them instantly so you stop doing find-and-replace gymnastics.

How it works

Your input is split on any of the common separators — line breaks, commas, semicolons or pipes — at the same time, which means mixed input is handled correctly without you specifying what came in. Each item is trimmed, duplicates are optionally removed, and the list is re-joined with the separator you chose. Both a joined text block and an item list are returned so you can copy whichever suits.

  1. 1Paste the list in whatever format you have it.
  2. 2Choose the separator you need for the destination.
  3. 3Decide whether duplicates should be removed on the way through.
  4. 4Generate and copy the reformatted output.

Example

Input

running shoes, cycling shoes, trail shoes

Output

running shoes\ncycling shoes\ntrail shoes

When to use it

  • Converting a comma list into one-per-line for an ad platform import.
  • Turning a line-separated export into a comma string for a tag field.
  • Normalising mixed-separator lists pasted from several sources.
  • Preparing pipe-delimited output for a legacy import screen.

Tips

  • Watch the item count — a sudden jump means something inside a keyword was treated as a separator.
  • Deduplicate on the way through; it is free and usually desirable.
  • For quoted CSV output, use the Keyword Format Converter instead.

Limitations

Because commas are treated as separators, keywords that legitimately contain a comma will be split. Check the item count against your expectation, and use the Keyword Format Converter's JSON output if your data contains punctuation you must preserve.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert from a specific separator only?
The tool splits on all common separators at once, which handles mixed input. If you need single-separator behaviour, clean the list first.
Are spaces inside keywords preserved?
Yes. Only leading and trailing whitespace is trimmed, and internal spacing is left alone unless you also run the Keyword Cleaner.
What if my keywords contain commas?
They will be split at the comma. Use JSON output from the Keyword Format Converter to keep such values intact.
