About this tool

Instagram captions are searchable text, which means the words you choose do more than set a tone. This extractor separates the caption body from its hashtags and mentions, then reports the words and phrases the copy leans on, along with counts for tags, mentions, emoji and characters against Instagram's 2,200-character budget.

How it works

Hashtags and mentions are matched and removed before analysis so they do not distort the language counts — a set of thirty tags would otherwise dominate everything. The remaining body text is analysed for recurring two-word phrases and for the most frequent meaningful single words. Emoji are detected using the unicode pictographic property, which catches modern emoji reliably.

  1. 1Paste a single caption, or several at once to profile a whole account.
  2. 2Generate to see phrases, single words and structural counts.
  3. 3Compare the emphasis against what you intended the post to be about.
  4. 4Export the phrase table if you are building a content audit.

Example

Input

A caption with two hashtags, one mention and one emoji

Output

Characters 78 · Hashtags 2 · Mentions 1 · Emoji 1

When to use it

  • Auditing whether your captions consistently describe your niche.
  • Finding overused phrases across a month of posts.
  • Checking a long caption fits Instagram's character budget.
  • Separating tags from copy before rewriting a caption.

Tips

  • Paste twenty captions at once; individual captions are too small a sample to learn from.
  • If your niche phrase does not appear in the top results, your captions are drifting.
  • Write the first line as a hook — it is the part shown before the fold.

Limitations

Hashly reads only the text you paste. It has no access to Instagram, so it cannot report reach, engagement, saves or how a caption performed. Nothing here predicts results — it describes language.

Frequently asked questions

Are captions searchable on Instagram?
Instagram surfaces caption keywords in search results in many regions, so descriptive wording is worth the effort alongside hashtags.
Can this show my engagement rate?
No. Engagement data lives in Instagram Insights. Hashly performs local text analysis only and connects to no platform.
Why are hashtags excluded from the phrase counts?
Because a large tag block would swamp the language analysis. Tags are counted separately in the statistics.
