About this tool
Posting the same hashtag block forever makes an account look automated and limits the range of feeds a post can appear in. The Hashtag Mixer solves that by merging the sets you already trust and shuffling them into a fresh combination each time, capped at whatever limit your platform imposes.
How it works
Each input is parsed by splitting on hash symbols, line breaks and commas, so you can paste a single line of tags or a tidy list. Only entries that begin with a hash are kept, and duplicates are removed across all three sets. The combined pool is then shuffled with a seeded pseudo-random algorithm and truncated to your maximum, which means the same seed always reproduces the same mixed set.
- 1Paste two or three hashtag sets you already use.
- 2Set the maximum number of tags for the destination platform.
- 3Change the seed to produce a different mix, or keep it to reproduce one.
- 4Generate and copy the mixed set as a single line.
Example
Input
A: #coffee #espresso #barista · B: #homeBrewing #pourOver
Output
#pourOver #coffee #barista #homeBrewing #espresso
When to use it
- Rotating hashtag blocks across a week of posts.
- Combining a branded set with a topical set for a campaign.
- Capping a merged set at thirty tags for Instagram.
- Producing reproducible variations for A/B testing your own copy.
Tips
- Keep your best five tags in every set so the mix always contains them.
- Record the seed with each post if you want to know exactly which set was used.
- Run the result through the Hashtag Cleaner before posting.
Limitations
Mixing changes order and membership, nothing more. It cannot tell you which tags are worth keeping, and it will happily mix an irrelevant tag into your set if you paste one in. Curate the input sets and the mixer does the rest.
Frequently asked questions
- Will the mix ever drop my most important tags?
- Yes, if the pool is larger than the limit. Keep essential tags in a separate set and paste them manually after mixing, or raise the limit.
- Why does the same seed give the same order?
- The shuffle is deterministic by design so you can reproduce a set exactly. Change the seed for a different arrangement.
- Does it validate the tags?
- It keeps only entries starting with a hash and removes duplicates. Use the Hashtag Cleaner for full normalisation.
