About this tool
LinkedIn hashtags act as topic subscriptions: people follow subjects, and a well-chosen tag puts your post in front of that audience. The convention is restraint — three to five tags that name the professional topic rather than describe the post's mood. This generator produces exactly that kind of set from your subject.
How it works
The topic is broken into words and rebuilt into the exact phrase, its component subject terms and a small number of professional framings. LinkedIn-typical topic terms such as leadership and professionalDevelopment are appended so you can pick the community angle. All tags are formatted in camelCase, which LinkedIn users expect and which screen readers handle correctly.
- 1Enter the topic, niche or product your post is about.
- 2Choose how many hashtags you want and whether to use camelCase or lowercase.
- 3Generate, then review each tag and delete anything that does not describe your post.
- 4Copy the set as a block or download it for reuse.

When to use it
- Tagging a thought-leadership post with the topics your audience follows.
- Building a consistent tag set for a recurring newsletter or series.
- Choosing industry tags for a company page announcement.
- Making a job post findable by people following that discipline.
Tips
- Three to five tags is the norm; ten looks like a broadcast rather than a post.
- Prefer tags people actually follow, such as a discipline name, over invented phrases.
- Place tags on their own line at the end so the post body stays readable.
Limitations
Hashly cannot show LinkedIn follower counts for a tag or tell you which tags are active in your industry right now. Search the tag inside LinkedIn to check that a real audience follows it before committing to it.
Frequently asked questions
- How many hashtags should a LinkedIn post use?
- Most practitioners settle on three to five. LinkedIn allows more, but the extra tags rarely add reach and clutter the post.
- Do branded hashtags work on LinkedIn?
- They are useful for grouping your own content, but nobody follows them until you give them a reason to. Combine one branded tag with two or three topical ones.
- Can you check follower counts?
- No. That requires LinkedIn's own data. Search the hashtag inside LinkedIn and it will show the follower count itself.
