About this tool
Order changes what you notice. An alphabetical hashtag set makes near-duplicates jump out. A length-sorted set shows which tags are eating your character budget. A frequency-sorted set, built from a batch of your own captions, shows which tags you lean on most. This sorter does all three on any text containing hashtags.
How it works
Tags are matched with a unicode-aware pattern, counted case-insensitively for frequency purposes, and de-duplicated for display. Alphabetical sorting uses locale-aware comparison so accented characters land sensibly. Length sorting compares character counts, and frequency sorting ranks by occurrences in the pasted text, always falling back to alphabetical order for ties so results stay stable.
- 1Paste a hashtag block, or several captions at once for frequency analysis.
- 2Choose the sort dimension.
- 3Generate to see the ordered, de-duplicated set.
- 4Copy the single-line block for posting.
Example
Input
#espresso #coffee #barista #coffee
Output
Most frequent first: #coffee #barista #espresso
When to use it
- Spotting near-duplicate tags by putting them next to each other.
- Trimming the longest tags when a caption is over budget.
- Finding your most-used tags across a batch of past captions.
- Producing a tidy alphabetical tag library for a brand guide.
Tips
- Paste a month of captions and sort by frequency to audit your tag habits.
- Alphabetical order is the fastest way to catch singular and plural pairs.
- Sort longest first when you need to cut characters quickly.
Limitations
Frequency counts come from the text you paste and nothing else — they are not a measure of how popular a tag is on any platform. Sorting also removes duplicates, so the output count may be lower than your input.
Frequently asked questions
- Why does the output have fewer tags?
- Duplicates are removed before sorting so the ordered list is clean. Use the Hashtag Counter if you need the raw total.
- Is frequency platform popularity?
- No. It counts appearances in your pasted text only. Hashly holds no platform data.
- Does sorting change the tags?
- No. Order and de-duplication only; the tag text itself is untouched.
